Irah Salo is a Musician, Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist, Producer, and Songwriter with over a decade of experience in each field combined. Having studied Audio Engineering, Audio Post-Production, Music Production, and Songwriting, Irah loves the process of creating and collaborating on works for the screen, stage, and active listening.
Irah's love of music is a lifelong passion that dates back to their very early childhood. Raised on a steady diet of '70s & '80s Rock/Pop in their Mother's car, and a wide array of Country & Western hits from the 20th century in their Father's car, Irah discovered an early love of singing. This was quickly channeled into their involvement in the Ottawa Children's Choir, and soon thereafter the path to the local performing arts high school.
While attending the Vocal Arts Program at Canterbury High School in Ottawa, Ontario, Irah began releasing music under the stage name 'teth_' at the age of 14 on platforms like Bandcamp and Soundcloud, and quickly upgraded to releasing on Spotify and Apple Music. After graduating with flying colours in 2020, they were accepted to the Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. There they learned the ins and Outs (pun intended) of Avid Pro Tools, Studio Engineering, Music Production, and Audio Post-Production.
After receiving their Diploma in 2022, Irah moved to Toronto to pursue music under their own name. Performing in and contributing music to several shows in YorkU's playGround 2024 and playGround 2025 included contributions to GreatFelt Greatness (Ulnik/Smith 2024), Dogwood Gospel (Trudell 2025), Satsuki Sakurai and the Blade of Broken Bonds (Wilson-Higuchi/Moss 2025), and live performances throughout.
February 2025 also saw the release of Irah's debut EP under their new stage name "The Irah Salo EP" including songs like "House of Cards" and "Insomnimania" as well as the runaway hit "All Roads Lead to Rome" which critiqued the American political system and administration then newly appointed
Since then, Irah has contributed original scores to GreatFelt Greatness (Ulnik 2024) in Toronto Fringe 2024, Satsuki Sakurai and the Blade of Broken Bonds (Wilson-Higuchi/Moss 2025) in North Bay Fringe 2025, and Raccacloon (Robert/Lewis 2025) in Hamilton Fringe 2025, as well as developing scores for short films.
